Statement: “I have known Gwen for the past 2 years both as a co-worker and more recently as my Bootcamp Instructor. She has attributes of honesty, hard work, integrity and patience. As my co-worker she has exemplified exceptional work qualities not limited to confidentiality, team spirit and professionalism.

As my Bootcamp Instructor, Gwen has guided me along with over 50 others on the basics of staying healthy which will allow us to live longer lives. She emphasized the importance of making the effort to exercise and adapt it as a lifestyle instead of an on off solution when we may our new year’s resolution. Gwen is very patient, understanding, sensitive to each participants needs and provided one on one counseling to each of us when needed and always encouraged me to never give up the fight of remaining and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Therefore, I endorse Gwen as the best Fitness Instructor I have had over the years. She will be an asset anywhere she goes as her career continues.”

Program Director: Lindy Jackie
Target Population: 14-17 year old youth
Program Mission: Provides developmental programs and support services to 35 at-risk youths (ages 14-17) over a three-year period in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, New York

Statement: “The EYES project collaborates with Bootcamp Aerobics, by Gwen Ro to conduct our fitness component that help participants increase physical activities and develop the behaviors that will lead to healthier lifestyles. Fitness is one of the most essential components of our program. Through Bootcamp Aerobics, students are given an initial fitness assessment, then continuous assessments every six weeks for the duration of the program. The fitness evaluations consist of strength, endurance and flexibility. Once results are recorded, the youth attend a vigorous and fun weekly fitness class which incorporates plyometrics, functional, core, calisthenic, cardio, sports, interval and circuit training to build endurance for their next assessment. Each assessment is progressive and students look forward to the workouts. Through the EYES project collaboration with Bootcamp Aerobics, students have shown an average of approximately 15 pounds of weight loss and a significant increase in strength and endurance. Gwen is a fun, professional instructor who engages all of the students equally.”

CUNY Research Foundation (RF) E.Y.E.S. Project – Youth Program [Housed at Medgar Evers College]
Program Coordinator: Nigel Birch
Target Population: 14-17 year old youth
Program Mission: Provides developmental programs and support services to 35 at-risk youths (ages 14-17) over a three-year period in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, New York.

Statement: “Gwen Ro has worked with the Medgar Evers College Empowering Youth to Excel and Succeed Project (E.Y.E.S) for almost three years. I have to say her dedication and work ethic towards this program is astounding. This program is intended to reduce at risk behaviors of 35 youths between the ages of 14 – 17 with a host of developmental activities. Gwen has been tasked with providing the students with one of the major component of fitness with her Bootcamp Aerobics classes. Since she came on board as a member of the team she has achieved amazing results. On average students lost about 15 pounds as she made her fitness program both fun and engaging. Her amazing results was instrumental in the naming of our program as one of the “Top success stories” over all the other Youth Empowerment Programs across the country. This goes to show why I take great pleasure in recommending the work of Miss Gwen Ro.”
